Columbus Sea Hotel, Genoa, Italy

“Spacious Quad bedroom, excellent Port view, very good breakfast”
4 of 5 stars
Date of review: May 20, 2011 - New
I found a super deal offer at Otel.com for a double bed and a Quadruple room. The Quad room was very spacious, front view, port side, sea and the mountains. The other room was average, view to the highway. Maybe not a 4 full star. Our floor seemed newly renovated. Big double bed. The breakfast was very well served. Expresso coffee machine, regular teas, juices, cheeses, pastries, bread, fruit, cereals, cakes and wine. Bar closes early, around 10:30 PM. No free wi fi. A bit far from historic center, has two buses stop nearby, number 20 and 30. Taxi with lugagge from Port Principi Tarin station EU 15. Taxi at night from same place EU 8. Friendly staff. lugagge storage. Delicious restaurant Da Stefano half block away, low prices excellent food, credit cards. Try the octopus with warm potatoes as an entree. Mmmmm...
Room Tip: rooms on 3rd floor port view.

Londres Wardonia Hotel, St. Pancra´s

“Exactly what they offer in their web”
3 of 5 stars
Date of review: May 18, 2011 - New
Small rooms for sure, that is what they advertise in their web even with blueprints. Clean bathroom , comfortable bed. Just be sure to get the upstairs rooms not the groundfloor or basement ones, kind of dark and muddy. Our´s , third floor, faced the St. Pancra´s towers. Plenty of stairs, no elevators. Friendly staff. Lugagge storage.
To get the Eurostar is a magnificent location, just one block away, and the metro station King Cross. Plenty of coffee shops and pubs around. Quiet area. Perfect for low budget travelers, definitly will be back.
Room Tip: second or third floor facing St. Pancra´s

From Budget Travel

There are many ways to tour a citybike tours, duck tours, Segway tours (though after Segway's CEO plunged off a cliff to his death riding a Segway, I'm no longer sure that would be my first choice), self-guided auditory tours, tours led by historical figures…the list goes on. The advent of the internet and the ubiquitous smart phone apps (yes, there's an app for that), brought us the virtual tour. Virtual tours, such as the Google Art Project and interactive maps, let you tour museums, cities, and even Disney World from the comfort of your home.
While I enjoy traditional tours as much as the next person, I'm always looking for a new (and cheap) way to see a city; something that allows me to view an area with a completely fresh set of eyes. So when I read about the Sock Mob Events' "Unseen Tours" and their unconventional tour guides, I was immediately intrigued.
The London-based tour company offers four walking tours of the city. What sets these tours apart from other London offerings? They are led by trained homeless guides. That's right, guides who don't just know the city, but have experienced it from a completely different perspective than your average Londoner.
Born from The Sock Mob, a volunteer network that seeks to engage with the homeless community and overcome stigmas associated with homelessness, Unseen Tours offers guided tours to popular London sites such as the London Bridge, and Old Street. The tours aim to provide visitors with an "unseen" look at London. Guides provide both historical information about the areas, as well as personal insights about the city gleaned from years of living on the streets.
Tours cost £5 or £8, depending on your circumstances, and the majority of the proceeds is given to the guides. You can book tours in advance, or show up spontaneously—just look for the cardboard sign with the words Unseen Tours on it (very fitting).
What do you think? Is this something you'd like to see in your city? Who (or what), in your opinion, makes the best tour guide?

I agree with all the comments I read. The Lark Hotel is 50 mts. away from Insurgentes Ave, the main street that runs the city South/North and the Metrobus station El Chopo (a museum) is the hotel stop. Also you have the Blue Line subway three blocks away. There is an Oxxo store and a huge Walmart on Insurgentes in front of the metrobus station. A great restaurant also on the avenue. The rooms are big enough, newly renovated, kingsize bed with new comfy mattress, super clean. Very good breakfast hot and cold buffet that we had included in our reservation. Taxi to the airport $MP150. You can walk anywhere from this location. If you like to walk of course.

Wyndham Cozumel Resort & Spa, Cozumel, Mexico

My first comment will go to KINGA. She is a sweet professional lady. When we arrived she was alone at the front desk, did everything to give us a room but there weren´t any available. She invited us to leave our lugagge and use all the facilities around. We had our room around 5 PM and it was one of the most beautiful rooms around, first floor, ocean view, right on the beach. Excellent bed, spotless. The staff was so wonderful, even when we had no reservation at Roberto´s they just gave us a wonderful table. The beach section is really good, the kayaks, the boats, and the amazing caribbean water. Food service is marvelous (only thing though I could´t believe they didn´t have any sort of chile when I asked for it, I love real spicy food) and the bartenders are top quality. Just to sit there and watch the sunset with a campari drink was one of the most beautiful experiences on this great trip. We just felt like honeymooners all over again.

Ayres Hotel, Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay

Just walking distance from port arrival. Walking distance from historic downtown, six blocks only. Clean and new. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was very good, continental style.
And forget about paying double price to spend a night only in one of the Old historic houses refurbished as hotels in the historic center area, unless you like to pay for small rooms with mouldy smell. I just like this clean and very comfortable hotel. And the price of the clean and comfortable room on the ground floor of course!

Athens: apartment ideal for business or hollidays

When I start searching for the place to stay in a city that I don´t know, I rely on reviews.
And trust me in this one. The apartment on Amerikis Street, in the Kolonakis neighborhood, is spotless, exceptionally located, three blocks from the Grand Bretagne Hotel and Syntagma Square. Dear Katherine ( I told her she has a Meg Ryan´s look) is just an amazing host and owner, sweet and warm. And her taste in designing the apartment is top quality. We were five adults and we found everything we imagine in an apartment, plus fresh coffee and teas, and chocolates (THANK YOU KATHERINE!). Towels, linen, silverware. Computer, internet access 24 hs. Top floor with balcony with a side view of the Mt. Lycabetos. The neighborhood is TOP. Plenty of coffee shops, small restaurants and outside bars. Posh area like LV, YSL etc were the stores around. Supermarket also at three blocks away. Perfect just perfect. Ten points. Trust me.

Hotel Cordón del Plata, Mendoza, Argentina

The hotel is located on 9 de Julio street, corner with Las Heras Ave. This is one of the most important avenues in town. Nearby there are plenty of cafés, restaurants, small shops, and walking distance from the Parque Independencia. The room was very clean, doublesized bed, and a super breakfast included in the room price.
The staff was very kind to us, since they let us made our check in at 9 am instead of the regular time of 12:00 pm.
